Mercy Corps is committed to creating an inclusive and safe work environment where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. The Safeguarding Team plays a key role in that commitment working to protect our program participants, partners, and team members from all forms of physical and emotional abuse and sexual harm. The Safeguarding team focuses on Prevention, raising awareness around safeguarding with all Mercy Corps team members, setting clear expectations for individual accountability, and building in-country capacity for awareness, prevention, reporting, response and investigation when issues arise. The Safeguarding team works closely with the Ethics and Investigations teams to gather insights from incidents in order to Reflect on lessons learned and Adapt prevention efforts accordingly.  Although our primary focus is on ensuring our own safeguarding policies, practices and investigations are robust and effective, the Safeguarding Team also engages in cooperative efforts across the sector, engaging with partners, peers, donors and internal stakeholders, not only to raise our own practices to the highest standard, but to play a meaningful role in safeguarding improvements across the sector.
